The Reichenbach Fall (Rooftop Scene) - lluukkyy28
I’m getting slightly annoyed with the lack of attention this is getting, so I’m going to hope maybe you can help out. (Particularly if someone can make a gif of the shot..)
The clue Moffat says we all missed? The bouncy ball.
They show it in his hand. Make a point of showing him bouncing it.
THEN THEY SHOW A SHOT OF HIM PUTTING IT IN HIS POCKET.
Okay, so what? He had a bouncy ball with him.
Turns out: If you put a rubber ball under your armpit, it stops the pulse in your wrist.
So, what happened? Watson gets hit by bicycle, slows him down. Homeless network rushes to make it look like he fell (thanks to Molly and some blood). Ball under his arm to stop his pulse. Watson runs up, obviously feels the pulse on the nearest side (duh, Sherlock knew, in a panic, Watson’d do the quickest thing to find out if Sherlock was alive)
“Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.”
Alright, so this was a submission I received. I will say that quite a lot of people have pointed the ball-theory out, but I don’t recall seeing anyone mention that he actually puts the damn ball in his pocket. I went back and checked, frame-by-frame, to see if he does indeed put it in his pocket at any time. What did I find? He does. Right after he receives the text message from Moriarty that says, “I’m waiting…. JM” It’s almost impossible to see, but (if you have the software to do it) go frame-by-frame like I did and see for yourself. Here’s a screencap:

This is just after he stands up from the chair. It’s quite difficult to see, because everything is very dark at this point, but you can clearly make out the shape of the ball if you look closely.
looooove the “hand-on-the-neck-so-that-John-couldn’t-go-there-to-feel-for-the-pulse” bit! hadn’t occurred to me yet!

Um, hm, right. You, you told me once, that you weren’t a hero. Um, there were times I didn’t even think you were human, but let tell you this, you were, the best man, the most human, human being, that I’ve ever known, and no one will ever convince me that you told me a lie. And so, there.
I was so alone, and I owe you so much.
But please, there’s just one more thing. One more thing, one more miracle, Sherlock, for me. Don’t… be… dead. Would you just, for me, just stop it. Stop this.
The likelihood of any of us guessing how Sherlock survived is close to nil, but we did receive a lot more information this go-round than we did at the last cliff-hanger. I just think it’s fun to entertain these ideas and point out justifications and/or flaws, because it shows how brilliant the viewers of this show can be. We take this sort of shit seriously, and for good reason! Moffat and Gatiss write the episodes based on the assumption that the viewers are above par on the intelligence spectrum, so I think we should damn well run with that.
Incredibly implausible (but super awesome) theory under the cut.

What’s he got to live for once the game is over? Sherlock will surely jump, and every other person on the planet is too ordinary for him.
I’d love to understand how my brain works.

Sunday night, I had a few friends come over and watch the new Sherlock episode with me. When the episode was finished, we went outside, and it was incredibly foggy outside. As in the worst fog I have ever seen before.
So, we all laughed and commented on how ironic (and slightly terrifying) the fog was after watching The Hounds of Baskerville. My friends left, and I went back inside my house. About ten minutes later, I got tagged in the above photo.
Apparently, one of my friends got stuck at a red light on his way home, and this is what it looked like.
sorion replied to your post: What if Moffat and Gatiss are just screwing with…
Of course they’re playing XD The question is, what are the rules? ;) Personally, I think they want to do S3, but it would take from feeling with the characters in the film, if we shrugged off a death scene because of that…
I agree completely!
If you think back, with every other episode they have been decidedly hush-hush about the contents of the episodes, but with Reichenbach, they’re nearly screaming to the sky that Sherlock is going to die.
Another thing I noticed is that Gatiss said someone is going to die. Most of us know that Moriarty definitely dies at the Falls, so maybe that’s a clue as well.
Urgh. I don’t know. They are just playing with us too much. Plus, why would they end such a great thing so early after all its success? It just doesn’t make any sense.
